A Responsible Employee is any UC Merced employee who is not a Confidential Resource. This includes student employees (e.g., resident assistants and graduate teaching assistants) when disclosures are made to them in their capacities as employees. A Responsible Employee has the following reporting obligations under the SVSH and Anti-Discrimination policies:

Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy (SVSH)
Reporting obligations for any employee who is not a Confidential Resource; this includes resident assistants, graduate teaching assistants, and all other student employees.
You must promptly notify OPHD when:
- In the course of your work, you become aware that a student has experienced Prohibited Conduct.
Reporting obligations for faculty, supervisors, managers, HR, academic personnel, and campus police: You have additional responsibilities and must promptly notify OPHD when:
- In the course of your work, you become aware that anyone affiliated with the University (not just students) has experienced Prohibited Conduct.
Managers and Supervisors include Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors of Organized Research Units.
Anti-Discrimination Policy
The reporting obligations under the Anti-Discrimination Policy are ONLY for faculty, supervisors, managers, HR, academic personnel, and campus police: You must promptly notify OPHD when:
- In the course of your work, you become aware that anyone affiliated with the University (not just students) has experienced Prohibited Conduct.
Managers and Supervisors include Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors of Organized Research Units.
