Clery Crimes

Who must Report (See policy for details): Campus Security Authorities (CSA) include, but are not limited to, offices and individuals:

  • Responsible for campus security
  • Designated to receive crime reports
  • With significant responsibility for student and campus activities (e.g. Registered Student Organization, advisors, athletic coaches, Resident Assistants)

What to Report: Clery crimes you witnessed or were reported to you

How to Report: If there is a serious or ongoing threat, you must report to UC Merced Police Department (UCMPD) immediately.

  • Merced Police Department: (209)385-6912
  • All other crimes may be reported to the Clery Coordinator using the CSA Reporting Form

Discrimination/Harassment (Protected Category, Sexual, and Sex based)

Who must Report (See policy for details): All UC Merced employees (including student employees) are Responsible Employees under the SVSH Policy. The following UC Merced employees are Responsible
Employees under the Anti-Discrimination Policy:

  • Campus police
  • Human Resources Administrators, Academic Personnel Administrators, and the OPHD team
  • Managers and Supervisors including Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors of Organized Research Units
  • Faculty Members

Responsible Employees must promptly notify Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD).

How to Report: 

  • Reports Regarding Staff (including student employees) - Human Resources (HR)
  • Reports Regarding Academic Appointees (including academic student employees) - Academic Personnel Office (APO)
  • Reports regarding students - Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR)
  • Anonymous Reports (provide as much information as possible) - Locally Designated Official (LDO)

Child Abuse and Neglect

Who must Report (See policy for details): An individual is considered a Mandated Reporter if their duties include:

  • Direct or indirect contact with minors
  • Supervision of minors
  • Supervision of other Mandated Reporters or employees who come into regular contact with minors
  • Volunteers who come into regular contact with minors
  • Ancillary staff who work in these areas where minors are regularly present

What to Report: Observed/suspected child abuse/neglect, imminent threat of harm to a minor

How to Report: Please take all of the following steps:

  1. Immediately notify police UCPD: (209)228-2677 & your supervisor
  2. Submit a report to the University Whistleblower Hotline
  3. Submit a CANRA Report within 36 hours to authorities

Workplace Violence Prevention

Who must Report (See policy for details): 

  • If an employee experiences or sees workplace violence that results in an injury, they must report it to their manager or supervisor, and they should report it to the Incident Reporting Portal.
  • If a manager or supervisor receives a report of an incident, including those that result in injury, they must submit it to the Incident Reporting Portal. They can submit the report themselves, on behalf of the employee, or by assisting the employee in making the report.
