Comment period on the revised Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment

October 8, 2015

The Proposed Revised Presidential Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment is a University of California policy that addresses our responsibilities and procedures related to sexual violence and sexual harassment in order to ensure an equitable and inclusive education and employment environment free of sexual violence and sexual harassment. The Policy defines conduct prohibited by the University of California and explains the administrative procedures the University uses to resolve reports of sexual violence and sexual harassment.

The updated policy revises the current Interim Policy on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence to comply with policy requirements mandated by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA 2013) and federal guidelines addressing sexual violence, including sexual assault, dating violence and domestic violence, and sexual harassment.

The UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment is a systemwide Presidential policy that applies to all University employees, including all faculty and other academic appointees, students and staff.  The final policy is expected to be in place in January 2016.
